Sains

Extra Solar Planet The researchers found that there are many planets outside our solar system. One of them is HIP 13044b planet discovered by astronomers from Indonesia, Johny SetiawanThe planet is actually an extra-solar planets, but entered the Milky Way galaxy.

The discovery of extra-solar planets is the existence of seven planets orbiting the star HD 10180. Meanwhile, the discovery of other planets are also fascinating is Gliese 581g, extra-solar planets orbiting the star at a distance is said that not too much heat or cold, like the earth orbiting the sun.

Milky Way and Andromeda Ruling

Andromeda Galaxy and Milky Way galaxy in which the planet Earth is a giant two neighboring galaxies. Both are separated only 2.5 million light-years distance, or about 18.8 trillion miles.

Previously, the Andromeda galaxy has a size smaller. But along the traveling life, the galaxy is "eat" a small number of galaxies in the nearby flying due to the large gravitational owned. Eventually the Andromeda is approximately the same size of the Milky Way.

Interestingly, as quoted by MSNBC, February 2, 2011, is currently the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies approached each other with a speed of about 120 kilometers per second and will crash.

However, the distance is still very much to make this giant new super collision will occur about 3 billion years to come. Then, whether the earth will be destroyed? To find out, astronomers using supercomputer simulations and calculate the scenarios that may occur when Andromeda and the Milky Way collide with each other.

Video simulations are made using 100 million virtual particles. Movies made to highlight the room with wide viewing angle of about 10 million trillion miles. The duration of time recorded by a computer simulation was reached 1 billion years old.

In the video, the Milky Way came from underneath and Andromeda from above.

"It is estimated, the stars in both galaxies, including the sun's solar system most likely will not collide with each other," said John Dubinski, an astronomer from the Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics, University of Toronto.

However, Dubinski said, the gravitational force of the two galaxies are likely to attract each other, mutual berpelintir, and deflect, until after a billion years later, elliptical galaxy that is a combination of Andromeda and the Milky Way was born.

After the merger of Andromeda and the Milky Way is completed, the process will leave the debris scattered in space. Here's the video: the Andromeda Galaxy and Milky Way Approach Each Other.

Crater Mercury's Image

Spacecraft Messenger spacecraft began orbiting Mercury on March 17, 2011 managed to capture the first image of the solar system's innermost planet is. The images show the southern hemisphere of Mercury, an area dominated by the former crater collision.

Messenger capture these images on Tuesday (03/29/2011) evening hrs. "This photograph is the first photograph ever taken by a spacecraft orbiting space inner planets of this solar system," said one scientist who runs the mission.

On top of that image, it appears crater 85 kilometers wide called Debussy. A bright light seem to have emerged from the middle of the crater. In the west Debussy, there are other smaller craters and wide as 15 kilometers named Matabei. This crater is known as an unusual darkness.

The image has been posted to the Messenger mission site managed by the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. That image is one of 363 images taken within the first 6 hours of observation Messenger. Hopefully, the Messenger can retrieve the image area that has never been shown before.

Messenger into orbit Mercury after 6.5 years of travel. Now, the vehicle space that surrounds the planet nearest the sun in an elliptical orbit with the closest distance of 200 kilometers and 15,000 kilometers distant. Messenger which cost 446 million U.S. dollars will orbit and study Mercury for 1 year the Earth.

Scientific research Mercury will begin on 4 April, in which Messenger will begin to map the entire surface of the Earth's innermost planet. The mapping requires at least 75,000 images of Mercury. With this research, it is hoped the mystery about the geology, history, and the formation of Mercury can be answered.

Messenger stands for Mercury Surface, Space Environment, Geochemistry, and Ranging. Although Messenger is the first spacecraft to orbit Mercury, he was not the first vehicle that came to the planet. Previously, the spacecraft Mariner 10 spacecraft had passed Mercury three times in the '70s.

G7 countries agree on intervention to control yen rise

It is first time since 2000 that G7 countries have jointly intervened in the currency markets.
The yen weakened after the intervention, recently trading at 80.94 against the US dollar.
Earlier this week, the yen hit 76.25, its strongest since World War II, adding to fears over Japan's recovery.

The nuclear crisis in Japan, coming soon after a huge earthquake and tsunami devastated the coastline, has hit  financial markets around the world, with many worried about the impact on the global economy.
The action began in Japan with the central bank selling yen to try to weaken its value.
It was later followed by similar measures by the Bank of England, the European Central Bank, the US Federal Reserve and the Bank of Canada.
Market reaction
The coordinated action was agreed by the G7 finance ministers on a conference call.
News of the decision had an immediate impact as the Nikkei 225 index gained 2.7% on Friday to close at 9,206.75 points.
US shares rose 1% to 11,889, while shares in Europe also responded to the intervention.
The UK's FTSE 100 index rose 0.4% to 5,718 and the benchmark German and French indexes were both higher.
"As we have long stated, excess volatility and disorderly movements in exchange rates have adverse implications for economic and financial stability," the G7 said in their statement.
"We will monitor exchange markets closely and co-operate as appropriate."
Meanwhile, the Bank of Japan injected an extra 3tn yen ($37bn; £23bn) into the markets on Friday in a bid to shore up confidence and ensure liquidity.
'Slow things down'
destroyed vehicles in Sendai
A strong currency may hurt recovery prospects of some of Japan's biggest companies
The intervention by the G7 nations comes after volatility in markets in the aftermath of the earthquake.

Japan's main Nikkei 225 index lost more than 16% on first two days of the week before recovering on Wednesday.
But just as the stocks were recovering, the yen hit its record-high sending them into a tumble once again.
Japan is the world's third-biggest economy and relies heavily on exports. A rise in the yen makes Japanese products less desirable abroad.
Nissan has restarted work at at least one of its four car assembly factories, but others are struggling still. Carmaker Toyota has halted operations at its 12 main assembly plants in Japan.
Nissan and rival Honda each lose around 2bn yen in profit a day with the shutdowns.
Electronics manufacturers fared little better.
Sony opened one factory, which makes optical films used in liquid TV screens, and adhesives. Seven other plants, which make everything from Blu-ray discs to lithium batteries, remain closed.
The nuclear and earthquake crises in Japan will cause a "major slowdown" in the airline industry, according to the International Air Transport Association.
It said airlines would not start to recover until at least the the last six months of the year.
Analysts say the G7 decision is likely to soothe nerves, though it may not have a drastic impact on the yen's value.
The intervention marks a turnaround from the situation last year, when there was much talk of countries trying to weaken their currencies to boost sagging economic growth.
"It's completely different from last year," said Masafumi Yamamoto, chief foreign exchange strategist at Barclays Capital in Japan.
"People were talking about currency wars and competitive devaluation. In that sense, it was very significant that speculative yen appreciation can be attacked by coordinated action."
The G7 countries are the US, Japan, Germany, France, the UK, Italy and Canada.

Lehman trustee is suing Citibank

The trustee handling the liquidation of the collapsed US investment bank Lehman Brothers has taken legal action against Citibank.
The trustee is seeking to recover cash and assets worth about $1.3bn (£800m).
The main part of the claim relates to a $1bn deposit demanded by Citibank in return for continuing to provide foreign exchange settlements after Lehman filed for bankruptcy in 2008.
Citibank said the claim was "unjustified and without merit".
In addition to the $1bn deposit, the trustee is also seeking to recover $300m of deposits that Citibank froze at the time.
Citibank said the sums had gone towards covering losses resulting from the Lehman collapse, with the rest being offset against other obligations Lehman had to Citi.
Last month Citigroup, which owns Citibank, acknowledged that it could face claims to the tune of some $3bn from Lehman's bankruptcy proceedings.
Lehman deposited $2bn with Citigroup in June 2008, before its collapse in September. The money has not been recovered.
The collapse of Lehman Brothers sparked a financial crisis and a global recession that is still proving painful for people and companies across the globe.

Coalition launches Libya attacks

The UK, US and France have attacked Libyan leader Col Muammar Gaddafi's forces in the first action to enforce a UN-mandated no-fly zone.
Pentagon officials say the US and the UK have fired more than 110 missiles, while French planes struck pro-Gaddafi forces attacking rebel-held Benghazi.
Col Gaddafi has vowed retaliation and said he will open arms depots to the people to defend Libya.
Missiles struck air defence sites in the capital, Tripoli, and Misrata.
A French plane fired the first shots against Libyan government targets at 1645 GMT, destroying a number of military vehicles, according to a military spokesman.
UK Prime Minister David Cameron confirmed that British planes are in action over Libya.
US President Barack Obama, speaking during a visit to Brazil, said the US was taking "limited military action" as part of a "broad coalition".
"We cannot stand idly by when a tyrant tells his people there will be no mercy," he said.
He repeated that no US ground troops would take part.
After the missile bombardment and the air strikes, Col Gaddafi made a brief speech calling on people to resist.
"Civilian and military targets in the air and sea will be liable to serious danger in the Mediterranean," he said.
"Arms depots are now open and the masses are being equipped with all sorts of weapons in defence of Libya's independence, unity and honour," the Libyan leader warned.
Later, state TV said 48 people were killed and 150 wounded in the attacks. There was no independent confirmation of the statement.
'Necessary'
Britain's Ministry of Defence said a British submarine and a number of Tornado jets fired missiles at Libyan military targets.
Mr Cameron said that launching military action against Libya was "necessary, legal and right".
Libyan state TV reported that what it called the "crusader enemy" had bombed civilian areas of Tripoli, as well as fuel storage tanks supplying the western city of Misrata.
Sources in Tripoli told BBC Arabic that the attacks on the city had so far targeted the eastern areas of Sawani, Airport Road, and Ghasheer. These are all areas believed to host military bases.
After midnight on Sunday, heavy bursts of anti-aircraft fire arced into the sky above Tripoli and several explosions were heard.
The strikes on Misrata targeted a military airbase, the Reuters news agency reported, quoting two residents who denied the state TV reports that fuel stores were hit.
The cruise missiles were fired from one British submarine and a number of American destroyers and subs, said a Pentagon official.
The missiles hit more than 20 air defence sites along the Mediterranean coast, said Navy Vice Adm William E Gortney.
The action came hours after Western and Arab leaders met in Paris to agree how to enforce the UN resolution, which allows "all necessary measures" to protect civilians from forces loyal to Col Gaddafi.
Benghazi battle
Earlier on Saturday, pro-Gaddafi forces attacked Benghazi despite declaring a ceasefire a day earlier.
Reports from the city said that government tanks and artillery had bombarded the city and there was fighting around the university.
Rebels in the city said thousands of people were fleeing the attack, heading east, and the UN refugee agency said it was preparing to receive 200,000 refugees from Libya.
Journalists later said the bombardment ended in the later afternoon and that rebel forces were in control of Benghazi.
The Libyan government blamed the rebels for breaking the ceasefire and said its forces had fought back in self defence.
French planes are reported to have hit government tanks and armoured vehicles around Benghazi.
French planes also flew reconnaissance missions over "all Libyan territory", military sources in Paris said earlier.
In addition, Canada is sending warplanes to the region, while Italy has offered the use of its military bases. A naval blockade against Libya is also being put in place.
The international community was intervening to stop the "murderous madness" of Col Gaddafi, French President Nicolas Sarkozy said.
"In Libya, the civilian population, which is demanding nothing more than the right to choose their own destiny, is in mortal danger," he warned. "It is our duty to respond to their anguished appeal."
Shortly after the airstrikes began, Libyan state TV said a French plane had been shot down near Tripoli. However, French military officials said all their planes had returned safely.
Col Gaddafi has ruled Libya for more than 40 years. An uprising against him began last month after long-time leaders of neighbouring Tunisia and Egypt were toppled.

Pro-Gaddafi forces enter Benghazi

Pro-Gaddafi forces have attacked the Libyan rebel stronghold of Benghazi and their tanks have entered the city, a BBC journalist witnessed.
A jet also appears to have been shot down over the city despite a declared ceasefire and a UN no-fly resolution.
World leaders are meeting in Paris to discuss military action.
The rebel's leader has appealed to the international community to stop the pro-Gaddafi bombardment, but the government denies it is attacking.
Reports suggest hundreds of cars packed with people were fleeing the city eastwards as fighting spread.
"Now there is a bombardment by artillery and rockets on all districts of Benghazi," rebel leader Mustafa Abdul Jalil told Al Jazeera television. "There will be a catastrophe if the international community does not implement the resolutions of the UN Security Council.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon says the world must "speak with one voice" on Libya.
The new UN resolution authorised "all necessary measures" to protect Libyan civilians.
Getting ready
The BBC's Ian Pannell saw the government tanks on a bridge inside Benghazi at around 1030 (0830 GMT).
Earlier, US President Barack Obama said forces loyal to Col Muammar Ghaddafi must stop attacking rebel areas or face military action.
"Gaddafi must stop his troops from advancing on Benghazi, pull them back from Ajdabiya, Misrata and Zawiya and establish water, electricity and gas supplies to all areas," he said on Friday.
Diplomatic sources suggest world powers could start launching air-strikes on Libya within hours.
On Friday, Col Gaddafi's government declared a unilateral truce but there were reports that government offensives in rebel-held towns were continuing, and our correspondent says gunfire was also heard coming from the sea.
A rebel spokesman was quoted as saying the downed jet was a rebel plane which had been shot down by pro-government forces.
The United Nations refugee agency says it is preparing to receive 200,000 people fleeing the fighting, amid reports of hundreds of cars full of people heading for the Egyptian border, while others are attempting to flee on foot.
The first families had arrived at the Egyptian border, extremely frightened and traumatised, saying some of their homes have been completely flattened said UNHCR spokeswoman Elizabeth Tan.
While officially, Libya's government claims it is respecting its ceasefire, on the ground a darker reality is emerging, says the BBC's Kevin Connolly in the eastern city of Tobruk:
  • Mr Gaddafi may be using the interlude being the UN resolution being passed and its being implemented to punish rebels for their uprising before the West can intervene
  • The Libyan leader may also be seeking to conceal his armoured columns in the streets of Benghazi, making it infinitely harder for allied forces to attack them

But a Libyan government spokesman said there had been "no attacks whatsoever on Benghazi".
"As we said, we are observing the ceasefire and we want international observers to come," said the spokesman, Mussa Ibrahim.
Mr Ibrahim quoted a letter from Col Gaddafi to President Sarkozy of France, UK Prime Minister David Cameron and Mr Ban, saying the UN resolution had no authority because it was interfering in Libya's internal affairs.
The Security Council vote called for an immediate ceasefire, and endorsed using force and imposing a no-fly zone to protect civilians.
The British and French, along with some Arab allies, are expected to play a leading role in the enforcement of the resolution.
The French ambassador to the UN, Gerard Araud, told the BBC that he expected military intervention within hours of Saturday's summit.
Mr Cameron - who is scheduled to meet Mr Sarkozy and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton ahead of the summit - has said British war planes are being moved to bases in the region.
